Babies & Birthdays

Graphic Organizer Finding a Mate Individuals are studied and matched. People are free to date/marry anyone they want They are studied and matched for compatibility. They don’t have to be compatible They have to apply for a spouse. Don’t have to apply – but you do have to go through a ceremony Not everyone is worthy of a spouse.

Graphic Organizer How Families Are Created Parents apply for children & a committee decides when they get a child & what child they get. Parents decide when to have children and how many Parents do not produce their own children; instead, children are given to parents at the Ceremony of One. Parents produce their own children Each family is only allowed two children—one boy & one girl. Families can have as many children as they want

Graphic Organizer Mourning Deaths They chant the name of someone who dies going from loud to soft. There is a formal burial ceremony There is eventually a replacement child. There are no “replacement” children For older individuals, there is a celebration of life no one is sad. People are very sad (grieving) when deaths occur
