Fractions Review Day 2 (Multiplying Fractions) August 27, 2014 Pages 6-7 in Notes

Warm – Up (left side) Pg. 6 1.How do you know if two fractions are equivalent? 2.Write a fraction equivalent to 2/9. 3.Add ½ to that fraction and reduce if possible.

Essential Question How do I multiply different types of fractions?

How do we multiply fractions? To multiply fractions, multiply numerators together and denominators together. Write as a fraction and reduce if possible. Always leave fractions as improper unless told otherwise.

Example

Whole Numbers Change whole numbers into fractions then multiply like before. Examples:

Worksheet Complete the assignment individually then turn in to the purple tray at the back. Remember CHAMPS if you need help: – Refer to notes – Ask a neighbor – Then raise your hand

Extension Multiply 2/3 by its reciprocal. (Think…what is a reciprocal?)

Reflection (left side) How will mastering fractions help us with reviewing linear functions next week? (Think about how you graph linear functions with slope and y-intercept and what you do if the function is not in slope-intercept form.)
