Why does he need to fight lust? What happens if he doesn’t?  Cost to your Christian life  Hinders fellowship with God  Stifles prayer life  Can leads to more sin/worse sin  Decreases self-control in other areas  It enslaves you  Causes depression, anxiety, irritability  Cost to the church  Church needs leaders and a new generation to rise up  Hinders your fellowship and openness with other believer  Cost to your family and wife  Spiritual distance (even if not caught)  Emotional distance (even if not caught)  Pain caused to spouse  Lost trust and respect  Distorts your view of ‘normal’ sex  Cost to your neighbour  Causes eyes to wander in real life  Person in the pornographic image is your neighbour. Love them? Every woman is made in the image of God and is someone for whom Christ died  Not praying for non-Christians? How to fight lust – start with the Gospel  Awareness of our sin and how offensive it is to God  Awareness of our inability to turn from sin ourselves  Awareness that God has forgiven our sin and does not count it against us  Awareness that God is transforming us to be like his Son Jesus Christ, and he is the one who does this work, although he uses our efforts
