Welcome to Miss Chaffee’s Computer Applications IMC 8

What you will learn  MS Office 2000  This package comes with: –Word- a word-processing tool –Excel- to create a spreadsheet –Access- a database –Internet Explorer- A web page browser –Outlook- to send –PowerPoint- to create slideshows –We will use FrontPage to create a web site –We will type using our home-position

Your responsibilities…  Homework  Test/Quizzes  Projects  Listening  Participating  Working with your “buddy”  Coming prepared for class

What you need to bring to class  Pencil  Agenda  Binder- 1 1/2 inch binder for my handouts.

Classroom Rules  Walk  Enter quietly  Book bags go outside on top of the lockers  Follow directions  Keep your hands to your self  Ask for help!

When you leave the classroom  Place clipboard and flipbooks to the right of your computer nice and neat  Headphones go on top of monitor  Make sure all pencils/scrap papers are put away or in the trash  Move wires in back of the computer  We only shut down the computers on FRIDAYS!

Fire Drill  Directions are posted on top of the door.  SILENCE!  Turn off your monitor  Walk  Last one out closes the door and turns off the light  We go up the ramp and take a right. Then we turn left and exit by Gemini.

Bathroom and Nurse  Ask permission  Use the sign out log as a pass  If an emergency- JUST GO!

Power Points  Every two points equals one extra credit point to your final grade.  Earn points by: –Receiving an A on a quiz or test –Turning in your homework on time –Helping your buddy –Being prepared –Being a good citizen –Getting extra help when needed

Your Homework  Homework is accepted late, but you will lose partial credit  Tonight, get your parent permission slips signed and returned  Get a binder and pencil for class. Bring your agenda that you use for all subjects!

Extra Help  Available every Monday after school or by appointment.  Visit the class web site at  Grades and assignments are posted at Thinkwave. You will receive a start key and password to see your grades.
