IDEC Project Project: lasting 2 years Permanet Institution (Foundation, consortium...) Promoted (2000) by Catalan Section of Spanish Asociation of GI (AESIG) Starting on January 2002 Sponsored by Society Information Dept. (funding) and Cartographic Institute of Catalonia. Goals: MD, Catalog server, other services (market place, e-commerce, hosting)... – market development, diffusion of public GI, rationalize public administration Standards: ISO, OGC Phases: – 1st year: MD, CS, Sharing data within Departaments. – 2nd year: WMS, WFS, e-commerce, hosting, etc. Partners: Pending the first meeting with privates companies and academic institutions. SPAIN Some initiatives, but limited to Autonomous Departaments, not as a Regional Infrastructure (Galicia, Madrid...). Expected some more will start. IGN try to lead troughout Comission GI

IDEC Project Data prioritiesbig scales Topographic5000 Orthophoto5000 Cadastre1000, 500 Urban plannig1000, 5000 Land planning5000 Land datatabular Thematic data: Environmental, Agricultural... Local geodata Generation of MD IDEC will generate for free the capture software MD (lenguage problems) and technical support. Starting on June.

IDEC Project Catalog server: Firstly our approach is to host MD in our “central” catalog but we’re open to link with other CS. Data access: Project pilot in the Administration (4 Departaments), based in WMS (Consulting data). In phase 2, open to others users, including WFS. At the end, we hope to implement geoprocessing and other services.

IDEC Project Changing the public Administriation “culture” of issuing data. Forum to meet, time by time, differents Agents of the sector. Rationalize public investments in GI and GIS. First application focused on diminishing transactions cost (acces to geodata, services...) in GIS sector, and also in other economic activities, like real state or land bussines. We would like to be able to quantify the economic benefits (in money).
