The course helped me to refocus on the role of the CNS and put into practice some of the core concepts (that I may have been neglecting due to a busy schedule).

It was a great experience meeting other CNSs from other disciplines”. “Gets me thinking am I fulfilling the 5 core concepts.” The course was excellent in general and covered a lot of areas which I would consider very relevant to our daily work.

“This was an excellent programme, it gave a voice to those working at the ‘coal face’ taking us ‘out of the wilderness’ and allowing us to bring our ideas to the fore in an inclusive, open, positive and stimulating environment, where we were facilitated in realising our ideas from thought to reality”.

It was also great to receive retraining on the core competencies of the CNS/CMS and the role in general”.“I found this course very good it gave me time and space to stop and take a look at where I am with my role and what I am and am not achieving as a CNS”.

Stop, Look and Listen Where we were Where we are now Where we are going

Clinical Leadership development focuses on developing individual capacities to effectively perform leadership roles (Day 2001) I believe: Clinical leadership is context specific Skills learned must be capable of being transferred to the clinical area Effective leadership initiatives are those that do just that

‘Effective leadership often consists of giving people not what they want but what they will learn to want’- Walter Lippmann

Leaders are people who know who they are and know where they are going

For learning to happen, Dewey (1938) maintains that one cannot be a mere passive observer of experience, but rather must act on the environment and observe the consequences of its actions.

Any Questions???
