Siemens PLM Velocity series Solid Edge supports DirectX and Advanced setting (OpenGL) The advanced setting is available on all platforms

Why Vista  Windows XP has a single application limit of 2 to 3 GB  ie Solid Edge can only address this much memory  Windows x64 has less support by Microsoft but can address more memory  Vista 64 bit has good driver support and can access large amounts of memory  But is still very new!  Maps graphics memory twice so needs lots of memory

How to get the maximum out of SolidEdge  Large amounts of Memory  Certified card  Fast drive system =Gives real large model editing performance

SolidEdge setup In Options  Direct X for game cards  Advanced OpenGL professional cards (FireGL)  Software (Limited graphics support (embedded cards  Basic (slow OpenGL

DirectX DirectX has less performance than a professional card and gives a different image on the screen

Full Speed OpenGL card With professional card (FireGL) full speed and quality image

With full speed card you can enable highest sharpness Highest “sharpness” setting does not affect rotation performance on this model

What’s required for successful 64bit implementation on Vista  Dual Core processor –Second core helps with memory allocation  Windows Update (ouch) –SP1+ to improve performance, expect a wait…  Branded system –Better driver support  Lots of Memory –4GB to 6GB or 8GB

Producing drawings requires more memory –Producing 2D drawings needs more memory as each file is read of the hard drive even if its in memory. –If you run out of memory it will “swap” and take a long time –More Memory and fast drives help with this

Reviews results “ATI’s FireGL V7600 gets our editor’s choice award”

First review V7700 Highest Spec results seen anywhere! Finally, that every so precious diamond studded golden crown in the professional graphic card arena that was powerfully in the clutch of NVIDIA’s iron fist has been utterly ripped away. How much more punishment can NVIDIA take from AMD in the professional graphics front? The AMD FireGL Team firmly maintain their status of being the Dominate Force in all arenas. award for the AMD’s FireGL V7700 High End Entry Level Professional Workstation Card EDITORS RECOMMENDATION
