Held from January 21-Febuary 19. They have a parade, that is lead by the lion dancers. The Lion dancers are followed by very colorful acrobats, musicians, and other puppet like creatures. Loud noises are made with fireworks, firecrackers, colored rockets, and sparkling pinwheels, to warn off evil sprits for the New Year. People greet each other with Gong Xi, or Fa Cai Begins with the 1 st new moon of the lunar calendar. On the Chinese New Year day the children are encouraged to stay am till 12:00am, this is because, if the children do go to bed before then it symbolizes a short life. The celebration lasts 2 weeks.
