DateWorkshop: Stakeholder Assessment 1

DateWorkshop: Stakeholder Assessment 2 Workshop Objectives This working session has been developed to help us identify who within our organization has or should have a stake in examining and increasing the value that skilled immigrants bring to the Canadian workforce. Different people react differently to change. Whether it is the introduction of a new initiative, new technology, new processes or a new way of thinking, there are those who will embrace change and champion it, those who will initially resist yet adapt once proven, and those who will staunchly oppose change.

DateWorkshop: Stakeholder Assessment 3 Workshop Objectives This discussion is a real starting point; our objective is to fully understand who within our organization are the likely champions, the strong influencers and the primary achievers. Key participants should be Senior Executives, Human Resources Executives and Recruiters or Hiring Managers, staff who: –have responsibility for our strategic direction; –create hiring policy and processes; –source candidates and execute recruitment processes; or –influence hiring decisions. Since it is people who ultimately bring success or failure in an organization’s drive to increase skilled immigrant integration, it is critical to understand the stakeholders, and develop a plan to leverage their leadership.

DateWorkshop: Stakeholder Assessment 4 Workshop Components Initial assessment to identify stakeholders  Who are the key stakeholders in terms of hiring and integrating staff in our company?  What is their level of influence on hiring policy and process?  Who are the people we need to include in any assessments or initiatives? For the influential stakeholders  What is their level of support for integrating skilled immigrants into our organization?  How do we leverage potential champions’ efforts?  How do we engage the skeptics in the process?  What will motivate the skeptics to move? –Interview them. –Engage them in activities such as workshops and assessment. –Expose them to skilled immigrants – as peers or mentees.
