WebQuest Second Grade Mrs. S Charlesmont Elementary Click on the book to begin.

BACK Have they always been writers? What were their favorite school subjects? Where do they live? Do they have children? What do they like to do for fun? We have read many great stories in second grade this year. Do you remember these characters? Dragon Officer Buckle and Gloria Henry and Mudge Maya and Julius Ricky (Big Bushy Mustache) What do you know about the authors who created these characters? Click on my book to begin your quest for answers.

Go on BACK You have been selected as a detective to research the life of a children’s author. You will use the research links provided as well as books from the library to collect important and interesting facts about one of these children’s authors: Dav Pilkey (Dragon Gets By) Angela Johnson (Julius) Cynthia Rylant (Henry and Mudge) Peggy Rathman (Officer Buckle and Gloria) Gary Soto (Big Bushy Mustache) Then, you will use the facts you collected to create a poster to share with the class.

EvaluationProcessTaskIntroduction 1.Print the Author Detective Task Sheet. This is where you will record important information you find. Later, you will use this information to create a poster. Author Detective Task Sheet 2. Click on an author’s name to begin your detective work. Dav Pilkey Angela Johnson Cynthia Rylant Peggy Rathman Gary Soto 3. Use your completed Author Detective Task Sheet to create a poster that will inform others about this author’s life. Check out the evaluation section to see what you need on your poster.

ConclusionEvaluationProcessTaskIntroduction Your completed poster should have the following:  10 facts from your Author Detective Task Sheet.  4 illustrations with captions.  Use complete sentences.  No mistakes in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. Here is the rubric that will be used to grade your poster. Take a look at it to be sure you have included everything. Rubric When you are finished your poster, click on Conclusion.
