PSCI 206 Challenges of Global Democratization Midterm Examination

 The Midterm Exam will be on Monday October 5 at 11:30am.  You will have a maximum of 65 Minutes for the Exam.  This should be plenty of time.

Coverage of Midterm Examination  Definition and Models of Democracy;  Developing Democracy;  Measuring Democracy;  Political Parties;  Electoral Systems;  Presidential vs. Parliamentary Regimes;  Third Wave of Democracy;  Democratic Transitions;  Democratic Consolidation;  Civil Society

Midterm Examination  The Examination will be in THREE Parts: A. Multiple Choice Questions (75 points) B. Essay/Short Answer Questions (25 points) C. Extra Credit (15 points)

A. Multiple Choice Questions  There will be 25 of these.  Each question will have several possible answers;  Sometimes only one answer is correct but sometimes two or more answers may be correct;  BUT one answer will ALWAYS be better than the others;  So, YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE THE BEST ANSWER in each case.

B. Essay/Short Answer Questions  There will be 5 of these.  Answer all five of them around two paragraphs using your own words.  There will be a maximum of 25 points for this section.

C. Essay Question  There will be 1 essay question that requires the advanced knowledge in analysing the fundamental issues related to comparative politics.  There will be a maximum of 15 points for this section.
