Environmental Engineer By: Blake Hardy Period 5 9/18/15

Job Description  Environmental engineers use the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. They help in efforts to improve recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control.

Required Training  Environmental engineers need to have a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or a related field, such as civil, chemical, or general engineering. Employers also like experience. Therefore, cooperative engineering programs, which provide college credit for structured job experience, are good as well. Getting a license helps the chances of getting a job.

Skills and Characteristics  Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.  Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.  Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.  Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.  Speaking - Talking to others to give information easily.
