Education and Employment Jennifer Plyler

Since unemployment is at record highs and rising, the competition for the good jobs will be tremendous because college graduates will be competing with experienced workers for the same jobs.

Incoming college students should seek guidance from their faculty advisor or counselor as they plan their college courses and curriculums. Advisors can also provide student with helpful resources that can lead to internships or part-time job.

The experience that can be obtained from an internship or part-time job makes one a better candidate for a job and shows an employer that the candidate can handle the proposed job.

Of utmost importance as students progress toward their chosen major is to excel in their studies.

Also companies can benefit from hiring and training young employees because the can offer these young employees lower salaries than they could an older experienced employee.

Many degrees are becoming somewhat irrelevant to the present day job opportunities or there is an overabundance of graduates with certain majors. Two of the more promising career opportunities remain in the health field and in education.
