Appropriation of parking spaces authorized by VMC Section Construction zone permits Some uses of the right-of-way require a Street Use/Right- of-Way (VMC 11.60) Meter Hoods reserve a metered parking space for a specific purpose during a specific period of time $5.00 per reserved space per day $50.00 refundable deposit Meter Hoods Presentation Title - 2

Customer contacts Customer Service for meter hood permit Customer works with event coordinator to schedule the event Event coordinator forwards information to Event Committee Customer contacts Parking Services for meter hood permit Parking Services staff receives the request, evaluates the use, dates, and location Meter Hood Process for Events Presentation Title - 4

Research included reviewing the following cities meter hood permit programs: Boise, ID Grand Rapids, MI Madison, WI Portland, OR Seattle, WA Meter Hood Code Update Presentation Title - 7

Formal application process (ranging from 24 hours to 7 days in advance) Fee for each stall temporarily removed from use (Most cities charge a higher fee in meter zones with lower fees in non-metered areas) Fees based on a combination of cost recovery (administration) and lost revenue (in meter zones) Prohibit use of the temporary parking for employee use Common Elements Presentation Title - 8

Some cities require the permit user to place and remove bags. Other cities charge an additional fee for “meter hooding services” All five cites charge fees for all temporary uses, including events Two of the five cities charge lower rates for events Three of the five cities require agencies to pay same fees for temporary reservation of regulated curb space Common Elements (cont.)
