Introduction  Vietnam is in southeast Asia and the capital is Hanoi.  Vietnam is heavily populated, home to million people.  This country is known for its bustling cities, beaches, rives and historical land marks from it places of worship to its museums.

Rice: Lúa g ạ o  Rice is the number one export in Vietnam.  Rice is the stapler diet of this country. The “rice bowl” has assured food security to its population whose daily calories are met by rice.  Rice is grown on paddy field in warm and humid climate. Steps to farm rice

Traditional Garment: Áo Dài The áo dài is a tight fitting silk tunic worn over pants. Inspired by Paris fashion as a modern dress in the 1920s- 30s Áo translated means piece of clothing worn on the upper body like a shirt. Dài means long. Holidays  T ế t Nguyên Đán : Or” Vietnamese New Year” is the celebration of the arrival of spring, based on the lunar calendar which usually falls in January or February.  T ế t Trung thu: “Mid – Autumn Festival” is a children celebration which celebrate the moon. Children world usually run around carrying lanterns and would play games with one another.

40 Years After The Fall of Saigon  It has been 40 years since the Vietnam war was over in 1975, when the last American helicopter left the roof top of Saigon.  It has been 40 years since over 2 million people fled Vietnam via sea and land, seeking for freedom from communism.  It has been 40 years since my family, soldiers for the Republic of Vietnam where sent to reeducation camps.  It has been 40 years that my people lost there beloved country and hope on April 30 th Thank you Canada!!!
