The Player Agent Are they the most important league official right now?
Player Agent- post registration The Player Agent following registration is the most important person in your league, even more important than your President.
Player Agent- To do items Develop list of eligible candidates Remember all 9-12 year olds who are not already on a major league team must try out Exception: Parent concerns for a child playing in majors. This is handled by the league. If child is sent down to the minors they loose the chance of being called up. The 12 year old waiver is in effect when parent, league president, and DA sign.
Player Agent- Tryouts Following registration the player agent is in charge of tryouts. Each candidate must be given the opportunity to: –Bunt –Field fly balls –Field ground balls –Throw/pitch –Run
Player Agent- Tryouts 1.All of these skills should be done within the same age level 2.Each skill will be graded 1 through 5 3.A total of 25 points is the highest score a player can receive 4.Usually candidates scoring between 15 and 25 points are considered major league eligible TRYOUTS- A player must attend 50% of the tryouts
Player Agent- The draft When it is the day for the draft the Player Agent is the most important person in the room. He or she goes over the rules and regulations before the draft begins and answers any or all questions that may come up.
Player Agent- The draft Let’s go over some of the normal rules: 1.Reverse order of last year team standing 2.Brother and sisters must go in the first 3 rounds 3.Manager’s child must be taken in the first 3 rounds A- Age 12 within first 3 rounds B- Age 11 within first 4 rounds C- Age 10/9 within first 5 rounds
Player Agent- Trading Note- Coaches should be picked after the draft is completed, then players may be traded Trading players can happen only after the draft; this is with the approval of the player agent, manager, and the board of directors. This is usually due to a request by a parent or a coach Problems of this nature should be in writing and reviewed by the board of directors
Player Agent- Post Draft Now that the draft is over the Player Agent is still in high gear! Once teams have been picked and trading is finished the player agent must make sure all managers or coaches call all the team players and informs them they have been selected to his or her team. The manager or coach talks to the parent, introduces him or herself and gives a quick over view of their practice schedule and their expectations of the players. The best way to do this is a team meeting.
Player Agent- Post Draft Replacement Players- Must select players from minors to replace players lost during the season. Team Rosters- Must make sure rosters are sent into Little League Keep all records 2D, 4H, residency waivers Trades and releases- The Player Agent must be aware of these and keep all records
