WOODLAND PRIMARY Project READY! Project READY! For Kindergarten

School Improvement Goal: School Mission Statement: School Mission Statement: To empower every person to become a self-directed, lifelong learner through a positive partnership of family, school, and community.  #2 High Level of Family/Community Involvement Involvement

Project READY!..... Background  Funded by Safe Schools/Healthy Students Grant  This multi-dimensional grant is providing learning and teaching materials, educational tools (toys/games), and parent training over a period of 4 years. (This is Year 1)  Classes Meet three times per year (Fall, Winter, Spring) Families attend all three sessions to extend learning and support. Families attend all three sessions to extend learning and support.

More Background……..  Each session’s activities focus on aspects of what children need to know to be ready for Kindergarten. of what children need to know to be ready for Kindergarten.  Sessions Facilitated by WPS Staff and local Pre-School Staff  Families arrive and share a meal – the first of which was prepared/served by a local volunteer group.

“Projecto LISTO!”  First of three sessions was held on October 16 th   33 families attended this session (along with their children, over 75 people present)   English and Spanish families are included – with translation and child care provided.  This program is for EVERY Family!

Family Tool Kits Each Tool Kit comes with:  A notebook that each family brings to a session.  Various Educational Toys  An age-appropriate book.
