Task 3 Store and Present Your Digital Entry Guidance Notes

TASK 3: Store and present your digital entry Task 3A: You will need to store your files, so they can be easily located. Task 3B: Present your final product for the competition entry in an appropriate format.

TASK 3: Store and present your digital entry Task 3A: Tips Create a Main folder to save all the images to used in the advert e.g: “Advert” Create subfolders to save the downloaded images and edited images e.g: Create two folders and name them as “Original” and “Edited” Give meaningful names for the images that describe its content e.g: “SuspensionBridge”, “Logo” Explain the file formats used. Give reasons for the selection of formats used e.g: JPEG/ GIF/ PSD/TIFF etc. Describe how you achieved the above including print screens for evidence.

Store your files, so they can be easily located Task 3A Create a Main folder to save all the images to used in the advert. e.g: “Advert”: save the final Advert Create subfolders to save original images and edited images e.g: Create two folders “Original” -> e.g. To save downloaded images “Edited” -> e.g. To save when the images are edited

Store your files, so they can be easily located Task 3A Give meaningful names for the images that describe its content. It will help you to easily locate your files. Follow good naming conventions e.g: “SuspensionBridge”, “Logo” Image 1/ Image 2 “Suspension_Bridge” “Suspension Bridge” X X

Store your files, so they can be easily located Task 3B File Formats If the images are for the Web or online, use JPEG, PNG, or GIF (Compressed, quality loss). If you want to keep a version that remains editable, choose your software's native file format. (PSD for Photoshop)native file format If the images are for print, use TIFF.

Store your files, so they can be easily located Task 3B File Formats - JPEG JPEG is best for photos when you need to keep the file size small and don't mind giving up some quality for a significant reduction in size. JPEG is not suitable for images with text, large blocks of colour, or simple shapes, because crisp lines will blur and colours can shift.

Store your files, so they can be easily located Task 3A File Formats: TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) TIFF is good for any type of bitmap (pixel- based) images.bitmap TIFF produces high quality large files. TIFF also preserves layers, alpha transparency, and other special features when saved from Photoshop. Task 3B

Store your files, so they can be easily located Task 3A File Formats: PSD/ PDD (Photoshop Document) PSD is Photoshop's native format. Use PSD when you need to preserve layers (such as for editing images) transparency, adjustment layers, masks, clipping paths, layer styles, blending modes, vector text and shapes, etc. Task 3B

Store your files, so they can be easily located Task 3A File Formats: PSD (Photoshop Document) Task 3B Select PSD/ PDD

TASK 3: Store and present your digital entry Task 3B: Tips Describe the file size, resolution, output medium and use of colours to meet the requirements of the client. Describe how the final output will be presented showing the completed advert. Printed medium or digital medium?

Store your files, so they can be easily located Task 3A Choose the Correct Photoshop Mode: Index Color, RGB, CMYK The CMYK colour model (four colour) used in colour printing, and is also used to describe the printing process itself.colour printing CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) mode is used for final separations for the press. Look closely at anything printed in color and you may see the CMYK colors that created it. Task 3B
