Formal Essay Writing Guidelines The Crucible

The Crucible Essay Prompt Choose one character and discuss his/her human frailties in detail. Why does this character posess his/her frailty. Support your answer with at least three concrete details from the play. 1. John Proctor4. Mrs. Putnam7. Judge Danforth 2. Reverend Hale5. Giles Corey8. Elizabeth Proctor 3. Reverend Parris6. The young girls

Guidelines: Use present tense. No contractions Third person point of view.

Guidelines: Include an introductory paragraph with a clear, well-focused thesis statement. Example: “An analysis of the college admission process reveals one challenge facing counselors: accepting students with high test scores or students with strong extracurricular backgrounds.” The paper that follows should: – Explain the analysis of the college admission process – Explain the challenge facing admissions counselors

Guidelines: Include the title of the book and the author’s name (correctly spelled) in your introduction. The Crucible by Arthur Miller Each paragraph must have a clear topic sentence. Include appropriate transitions.

Guidelines: Also include a concluding paragraph that summarizes your main points and restates your thesis. Your essay must contain examples and passages, in the form of quotations from the text we are using, to support every conclusion you draw. Make sure you introduce and explain each quotation you include; do not do a drive-by “Quote Dump”.

Reminder… If you use any outside sources, you must provide documentation for anything (words or ideas) that you borrow. If you use another writer’s words or ideas in your paper without giving that person credit, you are plagiarizing and will receive a zero. Plagiarism is cheating! You are permitted to cite other writers only as long as you document correctly. A plagiarized paper receives no credit.
