The 2003 UT-APD Leadership Class had the chance to utilize a new online application supplementing the class for: Accessing supplemental class material and other media Submitting Weekly Journals Taking Weekly Quizzes

The system was developed over three semesters through a collaboration with the UT Management Information Systems Program. Students from the MIS 374 class, taught by Linda Bailey, continued this project and developed an “Instructor’s Toolkit”. This Toolkit allows class instructors to do the following: Manage a class roster with images of the students Dynamically create and grade journals for each week Keep students up to date with an announcement tool

Creating a Journal

Journal for Week 5 Complete a Student Journal entry for: Socialization Theory: Think of a time when you were a new member of a group or organization. Describe how you were made aware of the group’s goals and norms of behavior. Who were your most influential socialization agents? Could the group’s leader have done a better job of teaching you appropriate behavior in the group, if he or she had used Socialization Theory.

This is where students write their journals. This journal would be about Socialization Theory. Students can either save their work and continue it later, or submit it to the instructor to be graded. The student can then come back at a later time and read the comments that the instructor wrote.

After the Instructor selects a student’s journal to read, the journal appears here. The instructor reads and evaluates the submission and then is able to post comments in the box below and then presses the button to submit the comments. The student can then view what the instructor has written. Excellent Examples, Fred!
