THE BLOGOSPHERE Too much content, too little demand. Feb. 2, 2010

NEWS OF THE DAY Stop working for free AP and Google strike a deal—sort of. Facebook gains 5 million users in the U.S. in one month.Facebook gains 5 million users in the U.S. in one month. (January 2010) 15 billion images on Facebook—550,000 images uploaded every day. “We are all being watched.” – Robert Frank Which begs the question: Is any action meaningful when everything is being watched. What’s the point of sending someone to Haiti when someone there has a camera phone?

THE BLOGOSPHERE Everything is interesting, but what’s important. If we all create content—if we are all journalists, photographers, film makers—then what makes our content more important, more powerful than everyone else’s? Who is important in the creation of the content— the subjects, the viewers, or the creators?

THE BLOGOSPHERE Common Ground Common Ground documentary from Media Storm Ann Arbor Ypsi-Divide Ann Arbor Ypsi-Divide from Comm 439 Narrative structure: juxtaposition or opposition what makes this type of structure work? What don’t you like about it? What types of stories does this work best/worst?

FREE THOUGHTS? On the one hand, information wants to be expensive, because it’s so valuable. The right information in the right places can change/save lives. On the other hand, information wants to be free, because the cost of manufacturing it and distributing it is plummeting. So you have these two fighting against each other. But are they really in opposition? Abundant information wants to be free. Scarce information wants to be expensive—What does Anderson mean by that? Can you create a business model that combines these two ideas?
