MOAS is a simulation exercise of the main political bodies of the Organization of American States: the Permanent Council and the General Assembly. Permanent CouncilGeneral Assembly It began in 1980 as a joint effort of the OAS General Secretariat and Georgetown University. Through their participation in MOAS, students represent the policies and interests of the 34 member states of the OAS and gain valuable experience in politics, the role of diplomacy and leadership. MOAS for High Schools Since 1982, a MOAS for high school students has been held every year in Washington, D.C. at the end of November. MOAS may also take place in any OAS Member Country that wishes to sponsor it. For four days, High school students debate hemispheric issues in a simulation of the OAS General Assembly Next

MOAS for Universities The Washington MOAS (WMOAS), first held in 1980, is held annually in Washington, D.C. in early April. The WMOAS is sponsored by the Inter-American Institute for Diplomacy in cooperation with OAS. Next

MOAS for Universities Abroad The MOAS for University students is held in any OAS Member Country that offers to sponsor it. The date may change from year to year and there may be more than one MOAS within a year. The first MOAS for Universities was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
