Photosynthesis. THE BIG PICTURE Scientists discovered that in the presence of light, plants transform CO 2 and water into carbohydrates and release oxygen.

We will learn The factors that affect the rate of plant growth.
Plants People and animals need oxygen to live. Green plants make the oxygen in the air we breathe. How do plants make oxygen? Plants take in carbon dioxide.

Photosynthesis Autotroph vs. Heterotroph Autotroph- organism that makes its own food – We call autotrophs Producers – Plants, algae Heterotroph- an organism.
Photosynthesis. Energy Autotrophs Use energy from sun to make their own food Heterotrophs Cannot make their own food, so they eat autotrophs or other.

PHOTOSYNTHESIS WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Photosynthesis. What is it?  Photosynthesis is the process of converting light energy to chemical energy and storing it in the bonds of sugar.  Plants.
Photosynthesis. What is Photosynthesis? Photosynthesis uses the energy of sunlight to convert water and carbon dioxide into high energy sugars and oxygen.

6H2O + 6CO > C6H12O6+ 6O2 Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis 6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy  C6H12O6 + 6O2

Why is the chlorophyll green? Chlorophyll is a green pigment present in green plants and cyanobacteria Chlorophyll is essential in the transformation of light energy to chemical energy in photosynthesis. Chlorophyll absorbs light mostly in the blue and red ends of the visible spectrum, and very little in the green wavelengths. That green light is reflected, giving us the leaf colour we see.

Global Warming

Global warming Research Write 1000 word research on Global warming your research should cover the following points: Increasing Co2 level in the atmosphere. Harmful or beneficial to plants. Global Warming Definition. Causes Global Warming. Impacts of Global Warming. Solutions.

quest/ What is photosynthesis? Is it really important? What would happen if there were no photosynthesis on Earth? Does it really affect you and your daily life? In this project you will learn valuable information about photosynthesis process, how it works, how important this vital process is to your life. gy/photosynthesis.swf

Introduction. Aliens have just approached you from Mars to help our planet. They heard about the global worming and the Ozone hole on Earth and how it is related to the increased rate of death due to diseases like skin cancer. They have discovered a new gas that has the ability to reflect the sun rays completely to the outer space and protect the Earth from their harmful effect. So, if the Earth’s atmosphere is coated with that gas it will block the sunrays entirely form reaching the Earth and will solve the problem. Some people agreed with the Aliens. US Environmental Protection Agency strongly rejected that solution and prepared a presentation to explain the importance of the sun to the Earth and how it affects the life of other organisms

Task You are working for the US Environmental Protection Agency. You are among the Photosynthesis team. Your Team’s task is to explain the importance of photosynthesis, how it works, and how it affects the life of other organisms. You will take one of the following rolls: 6H 2 O + 6CO > C 6 H 12 O 6 + 6O 2
