Screening for Autism Spectrum Disorder Autism Case Training: A Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Curriculum 12 Post-Learning Exercise Practice M-CHAT-R Before the next resident continuity clinic, print several M-CHAT-R with Follow- Up screening tools ( CHAT_Website_files/M-CHAT-R_F_1.pdf) and bring them to clinic. CHAT_Website_files/M-CHAT-R_F_1.pdf Ask the caregivers of all children seen at the 18 and month visits to complete the M-CHAT-R. Practice explaining the process of screening to families and describe the limitations of screening tools. Score the M-CHAT-R screening tools completed by caregivers. If any children score 3 or more on the MCHAT-R do Follow-Up questions and score the Follow-Up. Discuss the results with families of your patients. Discuss with your preceptor where you would refer a child with a positive MCHAT-R with Follow-up in your area (for example: audiology, early intervention, a developmental pediatrician, etc.).
