The Importance of this Story This story is important as it reveals that Jesus truly is the Messiah, the Son of God. It shows that Peter has recognised Jesus for who he is. It is also an example of a time when Jesus reveals his mission by predicting that he is to die and rise again. Furthermore, it is an example of the failure of the disciples.
