The Literacy Coach and YOU What to Expect From Your Literacy Coach During the Cohort!

Supporting You Classroom Visits Demonstration Lessons Debrief Sessions Teacher/Coach Conversations Gathering Materials

Classroom Visits “Kid Watching” Providing feedback Offering another way to present information

Demonstration Lessons Reading Writing Infusing literacy strategies into the content areas Not a time for you to get other stuff done! You do the kid watching and processing of my lesson. Record what you see and questions you have on a form I will give you! I give you/bring a short lesson plan, materials, and enough copies for your class. I may ask you to have some supplies ready, such as markers or post-its!

Debrief Sessions After I do a lesson or visit your classroom we will set up a minute debriefing session. Could be scheduled before school, during part of your prep, your recess, whatever is convenient to you! We chat about the lesson, student involvement/reaction, and how you could utilize different teaching practices.

Teacher/Coach Conversations You take the lead! If you want to chat about a component of reading or writing, I am here to help! We can co-plan a lesson or unit. We can look at assessments together.

Gathering Materials If you need a book on a certain topic or to teach a certain strategy, let me do the finding! If you need online resources, I can do that too! If you need a handout on a specific reading or writing strategy, I may have one or I can create one!

Scheduling All of These Things… I will be in your buildings one to two days a week. We will start with Teacher/Coach Conversations and Classroom Visits. After getting to all classrooms, I will contact you to find out what you would like me to do for you. From then on, I will try to see each of you at least one time every week and a half!
