Legislative Branch Powers/Issues: – Impeach – Collect taxes – Declare war – Veto (2/3 needed)
Legislative Branch May be separate, but have to work together to get things done
Eligibility, etc (House) 435 Representatives – The Interests of the citizens who live in their district Eligibility: 25 years old Citizen for 7 years Live in state they represent
Eligibility,etc.(House) Term: – 2 years
Eligibility, etc. (Senate) Represent: – Interests of the citizens in the ENTIRE STATE they are from Eligibility: – 30 years old – Citizen for at least 9 years
Eligibility,etc (Senate) Term: – 6 years
Many ‘hats’ of Congress – Legislator (makes laws) – Representative (of their people) – Partisan (party supporter) – Politician (make deals, but also get re-elected)

Senate: Dick Durbin (D): Jobs, Deficit, Great Lakes Mark Kirk (R): Jobs, economic stability
