Friday, September 12, 2008 Warm-Up The man you see in the photo has sold the skin off of his back to a person for $200,000. When he dies the person who bought the skin gets it to have preserved and saved. In your sketchbook, reflect on the following questions: -What is your first impression of this? -Is this art? -Would you do this? -Would you buy this? -Is this immoral? -Any other comments?

Monday, September 15, 2008 Reflection: You are looking at four pigs that the artist from Friday, Delovoye, tatooed. He tattooed the man that you saw Friday, Steiner, and displayed the man at an art show in Shanghai. The pigs are tattooed with Disney Characters and symbols Used on famous handbags by a designer named Louis Vuitton. The pigs that you see above were banned from the show in Shanghai because the officials said that they are not art. Reflect on this by answering the following questions about this in your sketchbook. -Do you think this is art, explain why or why not. --Do you think that the officials in Shanghai had the right to tell Delovoye what is an is not art? -Why do you think that he chose those symbols to put onto the pigs?
