Conclusions of the National Stakeholders Meeting The Secretariat, RRCAP

The participants concluded that the National Stakeholders Meeting is very informative and helpful in the Male Declaration implementation of activities in Iran. Iran is a Regional Centre on Modelling Atmospheric Transport of Air Pollution in Male’ Declaration. The Secretariat will see the possibility of holding the regional workshop for air pollution modeling in Iran during phase V ( ) and will request assistance for the support of international experts on modelling and emission inventory. It was suggested that public awareness shall include research activities, action planning and situational analysis and be disseminated in the wider scope including academic sector.

It was pointed out that it would be helpful if the air quality standards, air quality monitoring activities, major source of air pollution and key air pollutants of member counties be informed in order to disseminate further the air pollution issues in the region. It was suggested that air pollution modeling, air pollution hot spots identification and remote sensing be established.

The government of Iran reiterated the request for international community to provide technical support to solve the dust and sand storm problem that is transboundary and perhaps emitted from neighboring countries. The Secretariat will include the discussion on this issue during the next meeting of the Task Force for the topic strengthening the framework on air pollution reduction for South Asia. The proposal for emission inventory and modeling project from one relevant organization in Iran will be promoted and discussed for further collaboration with the Secretariat and other organizations, e.g. Asian Institute of Technology.

Thank you!
