I LOVE teaching Kindergarten!!

To create a safe and comfortable learning environment. To provide your child with the academic tools needed to progress. To grow socially, emotionally, and academically. To have fun while learning! Goals

A copy of our class schedule will be placed in your child’s daily folder! Please be sure to use this schedule to plan appointments around Reading and Math times! Also please make sure that your child is here on time! You will need to send a note in your child’ s folder to excuse any absences! The more your child is in school, the more they will learn!

1. Be a caring friend. 2. Listen when someone is speaking. 3. Raise your hand to speak. 4. Always do your best work. 5. Follow directions quickly.

Students will receive one verbal warning without having to move their behavior clip. Second verbal warning will result in moving behavior clip to “warning.” Third reprimand results in moving behavior clip to “consequence” and loosing a class privileges. Final reprimand results in moving clip to “Office/parent contact/” First parents will be contacted with a phone call or note home. If behavior continues then student will visit the principal’s office. Behavior System

The children have the opportunity to move up the behavior chart as well! Children that show good choices throughout the day and perform all daily activities accordingly will move their behavior clip up to “Outstanding!” Please do not expect “Outstanding” daily. This will be denoted on behavior chart as smiley face with dimple(star)! Students will also be able to visit the treasure box each Friday if they have stayed on “Ready to Learn” or “Outstanding” through the week! Each child will begin on “Ready to Learn” each day! Rewards and Recognition

Our class will also be able to get group rewards! Mr. Potato Head will be put together one piece at the time whenever the class is following directions when we have a visitor in the classroom!! Once he is completely put together the whole class will receive a special treat from the teacher! Each week, we will choose a STAR Student! This student should make good choices throughout the week and set a great example for their peers! We will also “Fill Our Buckets” by showing good character traits that we will learn throughout the year! Group Rewards

If your child brings his/her own snack, please put it in a Ziploc bag, brown sack, or lunch box with his/her name on it. This will need to be separate from their lunch box! Place juice/popcorn money in the small Ziploc bag with a label on it in the daily folder so that I get it first thing in the morning. Money for snack or popcorn is only accepted on Mondays! Also please use a separate payment for snack and lunch, they go to separate accounts. Juice money is $0.50 per day. Popcorn is $0.50 and is served every Friday! It would be great to pay the entire year of popcorn for $20.00! Snack/Juice

Students Breakfast Lunch Reduced Free.40 Paid Free 2.00 Volunteers Free 3.00 Visitor Free 3.50 (Go to school website to pay online. The office will give you your code to access this site.)

Always sign in at the front office! Please write a note if your child is going home in a different manner than normal. Otherwise, your child will go home in the ordinary manner. If you forget to write a note, please call the school by 2:00p.m. Please bring the light green card to pick car riders up. If possible, please come to our dismissal area to pick your children up!

Let the school know if any of your contact information changes. Allergies? Please be sure to list these on the information sheets as well as tell me after presentation! Medication must be brought to school by parents and kept in the nurses office.

Please let me know if you would like to volunteer! There will be a sheet to fill out in your manila envelope! Please know that you are always welcome in our room!

Please let me know at least two days ahead of time if you would like to provide a snack for the class on your child’s birthday. Finger foods(mini cupcakes or cookies are preferred) and juice boxes are very easy to serve. Please provide necessary utensils to serve the food. NO invitations at school. See contact information sheet. Student Birthdays

Sent home at the beginning of the month, will only be three nights homework per week. Monday through Thursday. You will be given a homework folder that must be returned each Friday for “check-in.” A homework assignment sheet will be sent home in daily folder. Example Should be a reflection of your child’s best work minutes of reading a night. Behavior chart will also be send home daily and should be returned to school daily. This will show where your child is on our behavior chart at the end of the day. Please be sure to sign or initial this chart each day! Homework

Please purchase a regular size clipboard for your child. Please be sure when you buy writing journal that you buy at least one primary composition journal. See example. The other journal can be a regular composition notebook. If you have any books that you would like to donate to our classroom, it would be greatly appreciated! School Supplies

School Phone (334) Letter/Homework Folder Phone message to the office Weekly Newsletter School Website: My homepage

I will be giving you a blank piece of cardstock paper. This paper will be used to make a scrapbook page about your child and their family, hobbies, and interests. The page should contain pictures of your child and their family and written comments about the pictures. Please don’t forget to add your child’s name! Your child will enjoy selecting the pictures with you! Feel free to include stickers and whatever else you would like to decorate the page. You only have to decorate on side of the paper! This will be displayed outside our classroom door when your child is chosen as Star Student! Homework Assignment

Please fill out the pages in the manila folder and return them to me before you leave. See transportation in front office for bus numbers. Once you finish completing the forms in the manila folder, please see my class wish list if you would like to help purchase supplies for this year! Finally, make sure to pick up your child’s goody bag and the orange folder with your child’s name on it located at the front of the room! I will be available for anyone who needs to speak with me! In Conclusion
