STEP #1: PASSPORT  When traveling outside of the United States it is necessary to have a valid passport.  A passport is a form of identification issued by the government.  You can apply for a passport at a US postal office.  You have to be a US citizen to get a US passport.  The passport takes approximately 6-12 weeks to receive.
