Conclusions The international framework for fisheries management requires dramatic and deep changes if it is to deliver a secure future for Scottish fishermen and fish stocks. The Scottish Government should promote Scottish priorities and expertise to shape the future of European fisheries management and, with the assistance of Scottish stakeholders, build on the profile and influence already achieved. The SFC actively supports the Scottish Government’s continued prioritisation of fisheries issues and its desire to increase the profile of Scotland in Europe and the autonomy of Marine Scotland in management of Scottish fisheries. The fishing industry and other stakeholders should consider how best to prepare for engagement in regionalised fisheries management and with broader regional marine management plans.
