Baker’s dream  Three baskets full of baked goods  Birds came and ate the baked goods  In three days Pharaoh will place you on a tree and the birds will come eat your flesh

Interpretations were true  Pharaoh’s birthday  Butler is restored to his place serving Pharaoh  Baker is hanged  But, chief butler did not remember Joseph

Pharaoh’s dreams  Two years pass  Pharaoh has dreams  Seven ugly cows eaten by seven fat cows  Seven thin heads of grain devoured seven good heads of grain

Pharaoh’s dreams  Calls for Egyptian wise men and magicians  No one could interpret his dreams  Chief butler remembered Joseph  Relates the events to Pharaoh

Pharaoh’s dreams  Pharaoh sends for Joseph  Joseph shaves and changes clothes  God will give Pharaoh an answer  Pharaoh tells dreams  No one could tell me

Interpretation  God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do  Dreams are the same  Seven years of plenty  Followed by seven years of famine Will be severe; deplete the land

What to do  Joseph tells the plan  Choose a wise man  Set him over the land  Collect 1/5 of produce each year  Store it as reserve

Joseph’s new job  The advice pleased Pharaoh  Chose Joseph  Ruler over all my house Second only to the throne  Ring and garments  Bow the knee

Joseph’s new job  Asenath for his wife  30 years old  Gathered up food during seven years of plenty So much could not count  Manasseh and Ephraim born

Famine is severe  Land is famished  Joseph sells grain  Others come to buy grain  Famine is severe in all lands

Famine in Canaan  Jacob tells sons to go to Egypt and buy grain  Ten brothers go  Benjamin stays with Jacob bow down before Joseph  Brothers come to Egypt and bow down before Joseph

Brothers in Egypt  They did not recognize Joseph  But, he knew them  Accused them of being spies  We are twelve brothers One is in Canaan Other is no more

Tested  Youngest brother must come here  Puts them in prison for three days  One will remain in prison while others go get youngest brother  Reuben reminds them of their past

Tested  Joseph understood them  But spoke through an interpreter  Bound Simeon  Sold them grain  Put money back into sacks

Returning to Canaan  Opened sacks—found money  Told Jacob all that had happened  Jacob bereaved Joseph is no more Now Simeon is no more  Refused to let them take Benjamin to Egypt

Give credit to God  “Do not interpretations belong to God?”  “It is not in me, God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”  “God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do.” lesson
