Presentation transcript:

 The Sacrament of Confirmation strengthens and confirms the graces and Gifts of the Holy Spirit received in Baptism.

 Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit:  Wisdom  Understanding  Right judgment (counsel)  Courage (fortitutde)  Knowledge  Reverence (piety)  Wonder and awe (fear of the Lord)

 When we “live by the Spirit”, the fruits of the Holy Spirit begin to show up in our lives:  Charity  Joy  Peace  Patience  Kindness  Goodness  Generosity  Gentleness  Faithfulness  Modesty  Self-control  Chastity

 All through life, we discern (or find) the will of God for us.  What does He want for us?  Job?  Friends?  College?

 1. Know and pray with the Sacred Scripture.  The more we know about Scripture, the more confident we can be that we are following the way of Christ.

 2. Live the Sacraments.  Participate regularly in the Eucharist and in the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation.

 3. Love the Catholic Church, the Church that Christ began.  Loving the Church means loving its members, from the Pope in Rome to the parishioner in the next pew, and working to help the Church grow throughout the world to bring salvation to all people.

 4. Pray to the Holy Spirit to know God’s will and to follow Christ.  We may not know what God’s will is; we may not even know what to pray for. But the Holy Spirit knows, and he prays within us for all that we need, whether or not we know how to name our need.
