Islam, Judaism, Christianity, The Abrahamic Faiths Islam, Judaism, Christianity,

Why Abrahamic? The historic figure, Abraham, is an important religious figure to Jews, Christians, and Muslims Judaism: Abraham is the founding patriarch of the Children of Israel (Jewish people) Holy Text: God promises Abraham "I will make of you a great nation/And I will bless you" (Gen. 12:2) and with whom He enters into "an everlasting covenant throughout the ages to be God to you and to your offspring to come" (Gen. 17:7). Christianity: The central figure, Jesus, is a descendant of Abraham. Abraham is also seen as a good example of a spiritual leader Holy Text : “those who believe are blessed with Abraham who believed" (Gal. 3:9)---Abraham "grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God" (Ro. 4:20). Islam: Abraham is a prophet (person who speaks with divine inspiration…delivers the words of god). He is one of a line of prophets (including Noah, Jesus, Muhammad, and others) Allah gave Abraham revelations (Qur'an 4:163), and "raised the foundations of the House" [i.e., the Ka'aba] (Qur'an 2:127) with his first son, Isma'il.
