Beam pipe production 2014 End of > BEAST Beam pipe production 2015 Starting VXD assembly(Aug-Sep) (CR test ) and installation 3 Schedule (IR mechanics) When is the time limit to produce of IR subparts?

IR mechanics schedule We have still spare time to modify beam pipe design 4

Beam pipe production 5

How to optimize the IR mechanics design? SubjectRequirement to optimize IP chamberBe partlowest atomic number metal Ti partcoefficient of linear thermal expansion difference with Be (similar number is better) Au coatingProtect SR from final focus magnet Crotch partMaterial (Tantalum) Cost, heavy material as shield, experience using as vacuum chamber, BG simulation Outer shapeProduction procedure, Space requirement from PXD,SVD Inner shapeBeam optics, SR shielding, HOM power ShieldHeavy metalCost, upper limit from CDC weight request, BG simulation, Space request from PXD, SVD

Technology choice of connectivity on each part HIP = Hot Isostatic Pressing A test for Be-Ti brazing and Ti-Ta HIP is now undergoing. They are not special technologies. Ti is adopted instead of stainless steel to reduce the stress (see the following slides). WL: 210W (Ta)WL: 140 W (Ta) WL: 190 W (Ta) SRQ: ~ 50 W SRB: 100 W WL: 70 W (Au) SRQ: few W WL: 270 W (Ta) SRQ: ? W SRB: 130 W 10~20  m

VXD design Otherwise BG shower reach PXD directly Add heavy metal here Add more if not too heavy 6mm gap for cabling gap for Cooling pipe/ BPM cable 2011/10/17ver. Base design are not changed Request by BG simulation PXD request

Latest space request(Dec.) from PXD: PXD group requested to make a space for Kapton flex and Omega. We may cut the beam pipe for Kapton flex, however those region is critical to shield BG for PXD or SVD. We have enough time to discuss before production

10 Design work has been done. The mock-ups are in KEK and MPI.

Beam pipe and QCS mock-up 11

Au coating inside of IP chamber The company, which performed Au coating, changed their policy not to use Be. Then we ask another company to produce dedicated sputtering system. Next fiscal year, we will try Au sputtering study using SUS pipe with CLEOII data. 12 Pipe diameter was 4cm

Beam pipe (Crotch part) 13 The crotch part (Tantalum) is divided into three pieces. The inner pipe structure has made by drilling with 5-axis stage. After then, those three pieces are joined by welding. Drilling test : finished Material for 1 st version has ordered Ridge shape to protect SR(x-ray) from final focus magnet

Beam pipe production 14 Ti small pipe is connected with HIP (Ti-Ta) IP chamber(inner) is connected with welding (Ti-Ti) Outer pipe of IP chamber and inner pipe are connected by EBW

Vertex detector Assembly and installation Koike(BP,SVD design, install jigs) Kohriki(BP,CDC,SVD design) Kanazawa(BP,KEKB machine) Sato(SVD mounting)

Simple Installation test Almost all mock-up components will be produced before the end of Mar. (including CDC inner cylinder and CDC inner structure mock-up) 16 We will start from this April

End flange SVD flange should take care for SVD cables and pipes. BP flange should take care for BP, PXD and shield support This two components will be assembles, independently.

18 Beam pipe is keep by this shield structure SUS mock up will be produced in a few weeks. The cost of HM ver, is around 6000$. The shield is fixed by the end-flange

Vertex detector installation This guide ring keep weight

Vertex detector installation The backward weight is shift to this guide SVD cover should not attach to another structure on installation at every time

Vertex detector installation Remove backward sled

33

How to fix at SVD backward 34 VXD detector is fixed at backward end for x, y, z axis Remove sled Remove support ring and adopt a bracket connecting with CDC inner structure

SVD support ring at forward region Guide roller to keep weight of SVD Positioning guide pin (CDC side) Release control rod after install (QC cryostat side) The VXD center position is arranged by those rollers. Forward region is fixed only for x and y axis

Vertex detector installation

Summary of KEK group status KEK group are preparing mock ups for simple installation test. Beam pipe (+PXD mount): done (KEK and MPI) QCS structure: done Heavy metal shield: SVD end flange (for SVD and beam pipe each): SVD support ring: done SVD outer cover: CDC inner structure(between QCS and CDC): CDC inner cylinder: All of parts will be produced before the end of this March. Then we will start studying installation procedure. After checking each parts, we will produce one more set of Heavy metal shield(by Al) and beam pipe end flange, then send those to MPI. (PXD assemble test (cables or cooling?) can be started from around this May or June at MPI.) After our installation test, those parts may use for mechanics check or cooling test(Where and how?). The final mock up (the target is the end of this year) will be produced including feedback or requirements from cooling or mechanics community.

cont'd We will produce one beam pipe for BEASTII to validate whole production procedure in next fiscal year. After installation test, KEK mechanics group should concentrate into mainly SVD mechanics (Ladder mounting table or assembly jigs). (Of course, Mechanics request from PXD is always welcome.)

Belle rotation 40

41 Belle Rotation Machine group decided to rotate Belle detector. This work will be on next fiscal year.

42 Interference Exchange piping What we should take care? Belle alignment pin position should be shift

Belle Rotation Organizer: I.Nakamura, J.Haba There are two candidate companies interested in Belle rotation work. One option is exchanging rail with rotated angle at interaction region. Another option is exchange all trucks with shifted position. 43

Discussion and requested items 44

SVD/PXD dock position Please prepare the space request for Dock (SVD and PXD for each). – Also list of cables connectors with dimension for inlet and outlet On next B2GM well discuss about space allocation. 45

Service space allocation on QC cryostat 46 I propose to have a special meeting about allocation of each service on next B2GM( Nov). -> summarize the list of parts in next B2GM Related subjects: CO2 cooling tubes (SVD, PXD) SVD cables PXD air cooling tube PXD cables BP cooling tubes Monitor cables Space:250cm 2

Space requirement from QCS Ouchi-san (QCS group leader) propose to put iron shield between QCS and Belle structure (Blue region) PXD/SVD dock space seems to be still free for this requirement

SVD mechanics discussion

Conflict region The structure is cut at the center and a projection is made. –Hatched region is the cut surface. –Regions with a blue circle is interfering. 1, 4, 5: Layer3 ladder and PXD. 2, 6: Layer 3 ladder support and PXD 3: Layer 3 hybrid and Layer 4 ribs. 7, 8, 9 : The gap between CFRP cone and Beam pipe is narrow for the PXD cables. (The top-view is narrowest… though). 8: CFRP cone is interfering with the PXD patch panel. (we do not know the patch panel shape is optimized or not.) 7-9: The CFRP shape has been changed. The previous shape (shown in yellow) was compatible with PXD design. 1 Feb Toru Tsuboyama 49

Discussion (Tanaka) There are two important milestones: 1, VXD mechanics mock-up production(end of this year) 2, SVD ladder mounting (starting the end of next year) Then I asked Tsuboyama-san to set more detail schedule (also time of no return). i.e (including my questions, but some items may already be solved) A, when the design and production of mounting table should be finalized? B, Ladder mount test for each layer (+ thermal stress test?) should be finished before mock-up production C, Cooling test of hybrid with endring(+CO2 system?) How to manage to thermal connection between hybrid and endring? D, Until when, we should solve the interference between SVD(3rd) and PXD, or SVD(3) and SVD(4) etc.

SVD Milestone(Tsuboyama) Many subjects seem to be jammed on second quarter of 2012 To encourage those study effectively, man power should be concentrated in one or two places to discuss in detail.

First step to solve the issues The main subject of KEK IR group shift the stage of beam pipe design into helping SVD mechanics work. – Mockup production – Some test to select materials – Ladder mount table design – Final SVD structure production In order to encourage sharing work with KEK group or other groups, SVD group prepare "Problem note" which describes (like weekly report): – Name of issue – responsible person – requirements to solve the issue – The time limit – concerning with other subjects (i.e. physics impact on ladder position) etc. We start discussion with SVD EVO meeting about this project and will discuss in detail at next B2GM (dedicated session concerning mechanics problems)
