Counselling level Three Friday – week 11 Counselling and Identity

Check in… Sit quietly for five minutes. Notice how you are feeling… physically, mentally and spiritually What colour or texture best fits with how you are right now? After five minutes you will be invited to share your colour or texture, thoughts, feelings, experiences etc. with the group… Listen carefully as others check-in.

You will be invited to: Check-in with self and others using colour or texture Consider your identity using “I am’s” and share ideas in small groups Consider the impact which your identity may have in a counselling/helping relationship Agree tutorial times and triad groups for skills practise Observe a tutor and student demonstration of counselling skills Receive feedback on draft assignments Practise Listening Skills in triads and give/receive feedback Complete a mid course review pro forma.

Identity - Who Are You? Respond to the statement “I am…” 20 times Invite another member of the group to share their list with you Invite another… And another…

Counselling and Difference Consider two aspects of your identity and the potential impact which they may have on you or a person who you are helping.
