SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP A City Set on a Hill
ONE FOUNDATION…JESUS! “For no one can lay any foundation other than the One already laid, which is CHRIST JESUS.” - 1 Corinthians 3:11 (emphasis added) JESUS is GOD…the “Express Image” of the Father (Hebrews 1:3) Co-eternal with the Father and the Spirit (John 1:1; Colossians 1) Has always been The Son (John 17:5) Fully indwells the Father and the Spirit just as They fully indwell Him (John 10:30; John 16:13-16) (Perichoresis) The ONLY WAY to the Father and to Eternal Life. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)
BUILDING THE CITY Spiritual Ethical Credible Humble BE
BUILDING THE CITY KNOW Yourself / Your “issues” Other Leaders How to “Lead by Example” Your “sheep” How to convey what followers need to know.
BUILDING THE CITY DO What provides purpose, direction and motivation. What the person/family NEEDS, not what you THINK they need or even what they say they need at first (presenting problem). LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN then ACT.

BOUNDARIES –Avoid becoming offended at personal affronts –Distinguish between offenses against you and the offense (toward and from) the Cross of Christ. –“Be angry but do not sin” – Vent with the LORD…Avoid “burnout.” –Be vulnerable (open the gates) when you need to…BUT DON’T BE DRAWN INTO TROUBLE or away from the work. (Nehemiah)
ANOTHER SPOT IN THE CITY Remember to Refer. - Not everyone has the same gifts - Know when you are dealing with something someone else can handle better - Refer to Pastor, Counselor, Psychiatrist/Psychologist, Clinic, Hospital - Make the appointment. Go with the person.
Come Back to CHRIST People will change Circumstances will change Life will pass But always come back to JESUS and know that He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. He was with you “back then”, He is with you now, and He will be with you always.
Do All to the Glory of GOD "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16 (NAS)
