My town Castelsardo is a small town in the north of Sardinia.
Castelsardo has been voted one of the best “Borghi d’Italia”, and it classified third position in an italian famous tv programme
THE ELEPHANT’S ROCK, IT IS VERY FAMOUS BECAUSE OF ITS STRANGE SHAPE OF AN ELEPHANT, THIS SHAPE IS NATURAL THANKS TO THE RAIN AND THE WIND..
THERE IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL CATHEDRAL IN THE HISTORICAL CENTER.
HAS SOME BEAUTIFUL BEACHES WITH ROCKS AND SAND
FISHING BECAUSE IN THE PAST PEOPLE USED TO EAT FISH ALMOST EVERY DAY, AND EVEN TODAY A LOT OF PEOPLE STILL GO FISHING. IT’S ALSO FAMOUS FOR THE HANDCRAFT OF BASKETS AND FOR THE TRADITIONAL SWEETS
ONE OF THE MAIN EVENTS IN CASTELSARDO IS THE RELIGIOUS PROCESSION OF “LUNISSANTI” (HOLY MONDAY) IN THAT DAY A LOT OF PEOPLE WALK TO TERGU, A SMALL VILLAGE NEARBY TO CELEBRATE JESUS’ PASSION AND IN THE END THEY HAVE A PIC-NIC TOGETHER. DURING THE PROCESSION THREE DIFFERENT CHOIRS SING IN TURNS ANCIENT LATIN RELIGIOUS SONGS
IT’S A SMALL VILLAGE FOUR KM FROM CASTELSARDO, OF SIX HUNDREDS INHABITANTS. IN TERGU THERE IS A BEAUTIFUL ROMANIC CHURCH CALLED “NOSTRA SIGNORA DI TERGU”.
