1. What are the four natural regions of Texas? Coastal Plains, North Central Plains, Great Plains, Mountains and Basins 2. Which part of Texas has the highest elevation and the least rainfall? Mountains & Basins  3. Which part of Texas has the lowest elevation and the most rainfall? Coastal Plains

4. Escarpment – A steep slope or long cliff that separates two level areas on different elevations 5. Aquifer – an underground reservoir 6. Region – an area with common characteristics 7. Plateau – a broad area of high, flat land with steep cliffs at least on one side

8. Absolute location – exact location on Earth using latitude and longitude 9. Barrier islands – an island that protects the main body of land from ocean waves 10. Geography – the study of the earth and the people who live on it. 11. Equator – the latitude line of zero degrees

12. Relative location – position of a place with respect to another place often identified by direction or distance 13. Drought – dry period of less than normal rainfall often causing damage to crops 14. Erosion – wearing away of the earth’s surface from the movement of water, ice, wind or gravity 15. Human environment interaction – how people adapt to or change their surroundings and how the physical environment affects humans

What is the Gulf Air Stream and how does it affect the climate of East Texas? The Gulf Air Stream is the air that is pushed ashore from the Gulf of Mexico. The moisture from the Gulf of Mexico is the source of most of the rain
