Skeletal System Matthew Leaden 3-1

Overview The Skeletal system keeps your body in shape, protects your vital organs, such as the Heart, Brain, and Lungs, and enables you to move. There are 206 bones. The main bones are the Skull, Spine, Pelvic, Ribs, and Femur.

Parts of the system The Skull protects your brain so when you fall on your head it won’t do as much damage. The Jaw bone helps to move your mouth and to chew your food into tiny particles. The Spine helps you to stand up and to not hurl over. The collar bone protects your upper shoulder.

Parts of the system The Breastbone, or the sternum, is linked to the bones which make up the ribs. The Ribs also protect the Lungs. The Pelvic is down by your waste. It protects the hip. The Femur is a very big bone. It has a lot of bone and helps you move. The Sternum holds your Ribs together.
