Using the Learning Targets for Coaches Supporting Coaches to Do Their Best Work

The Learning Targets for Coaches O Align with the Danielson Framework for Instructional Specialists, but can be used to support any coaching program O Create a space for coaches to reflect on their work and receive feedback O Can also be used to evaluate the coaching program

Things to Keep in Mind O Each descriptor (1a, 1b, 1c, etc.) is Danielson language O We translated the Danielson descriptors into actionable learning targets that align with Student- Centered Coaching O We view the role of a coach as a partner, whereas the rubric interprets coaching as delivering PD O We designed the learning targets to bridge this gap

Domain 1: Planning & Preparation Please read through the learning targets in this section and reflect on the following questions: O What is the intent behind each descriptor (1a, 1b, 1c, etc.) O Where do you see evidence of the core practices for Student-Centered Coaching? O What actions would coaches in your school/district take to make these targets come to life?

Domain 2: Environment Please read through the learning targets in this section and reflect on the following questions: O What is the intent behind each descriptor (2a, 2b, 2c, etc.) O Where do you see evidence of the core practices for Student-Centered Coaching? O What actions would coaches in your school/district take to make these targets come to life?

Domain 3: Delivery of Services Please read through the learning targets in this section and reflect on the following questions: O What is the intent behind each descriptor (3a, 3b, 3c, etc.) O Where do you see evidence of the core practices for Student-Centered Coaching? O What actions would coaches in your school/district take to make these targets come to life?

Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities Please read through the learning targets in this section and reflect on the following questions: O What is the intent behind each descriptor (4a, 4b, 4c, etc.) O Where do you see evidence of the core practices for Student-Centered Coaching? O What actions would coaches in your school/district take to make these targets come to life?

Supporting and Evaluating the Coaching Effort 1. Coaches use the tool to set short-term and long- term goals for their own growth 2. Coaches reflect and share their progress in coach PLCs 3. The supervisor of coaches provide strengths-based feedback that aligns with the goal that the coach has set 4. The supervisor of coaches design PD for coaches based on the goals that have been set by the collective group.
