Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Opening Q’s Before we start, I’d like to open the call to questions…It can be a follow up to last week, a success or personal development question, a question about your own life, a question about coaching, a comment or observation, or anything at all!

Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Introduction Today we are going to talk about Perfectionism. Perfectionism is something that can be positive or it can get in your way. If you are a really bright person that can see ideals and possibilities, you’ve probably experienced perfectionism! It’s not necessarily a bad thing, it just needs to be handled effectively…

Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Definition – Perfectionist There are many definitions for perfectionists, one is: “people who strain compulsively and unremittingly toward impossible goals and who measure their own worth entirely in terms of productivity and accomplishment”

Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Discussion How would you define perfectionism?

Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Positive Aspects of Perfectionism Can provide a lot of motivating energy Can lead to high achievement (even if you “suffer” from the negative aspects of perfectionism, you can still get great external results…May not be sustainable though!) Has perfectionism ever worked for the positive for you?

Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Typical pitfalls of Perfectionism Procrastination Inability to complete projects Inability to feel satisfaction in your work or accomplishments Losing time/getting stuck on minor details All or nothing thinking (something is either perfect or no good at all) Feeling bad about yourself Fear of failure

Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Discussion Has perfectionism ever got in your way? How? What is that like?

Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Remedies for negative aspects of perfectionism (discuss each one) Get rid of the shoulds Base your self esteem on who you are, not how you perform Plan ahead for what your “good enough” will be and stick to it Embrace mistakes – know that you will make them and make the most of them! Build your confidence

Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Discussion What do we think the ideal manifestation of the perfection dynamic? For most? For everyone? For ourselves? What can you do personally to balance your own perfection dynamic?

Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Final Thoughts Any final thoughts before we sign-off?

Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Next Call Our next call will be Wednesday, October 12 th, a Techniques Call Have a great week!
