Inspiration and Expiration Inspiration Contraction of intercostal muscles Diaphragm contracts downwards Increase size of thoracic cavity and lung space Air pressure in lungs decreased Expiration Intercostals and diaphragm relax Space inside lungs decreases Air pressure in lungs increased
