Energy Efficient Interface Selection in Heterogeneous wireless networking Preperd by Soran Hussein

2 Heterogeneous networks In heterogeneous wireless networks, the mobile terminal is assumed to be in the overlapping zone of several networks. The radio signal strength (RSS) attributes are assumed to be higher than the necessary thresholds to make connectivity. The interface selection challenge is to determine the most favorable trade-off among sevral metrics to select the best network interface.

Problems& solutions  Solving a network selection problem in which the terminals minimize their energy consumptions with affordable QoS  The problem can be modelled as dynamic game theory since we can capture the dynamics of network selection at a bounded rationality. The terminal changes network if it observed that its payoff is less than average payoff of all users in the coverage area and evolutionary equilibrium considered as a solution of the game  Cooperation between different technologies to minimize overall energy consumption of the system  Trying to shutdown some of the base stations by cooperating between this different technologies 4
