Copyright, Fair Use Act, Plagiarism, and Public domain. By, Gabby Parks

What is copyright? O A law that protects the works of musicians, authors, artists and others from getting copied or used without permission.

How long does the copyright on an original work last? O A copyright law can last anywhere from years

What is the fair use act? O Under the "fair use" rule of the copyright law, an author or student may limitly use another's work without asking permission.

What is plagiarism? O Copying another's work and claiming it as your own.

What types of things can be copyrighted? What cannot be copyrighted? O Music, artwork, and no0oks can all be copyrighted. things like ideas, methods, or systems cannot be though.

What is the public domain? O A collection of works that are either not qualified for copyright protection or expired copyrights.

The fair use act allows anyone to use copyrighted materials for educational purposes. What other uses are covered under the fair use act? O The ability to use the fair use act to used a certain amount of copyrighted material in a campaign, slogan, or commercial if author is recognized.
