Place Value Rounding

Rounding  Step 1 –Underline the number in the place value in which you are rounding to...  Example: Round to the thousands –35,

 Step 2 –Look at the number to the right of the underlined digit and use the rounding rules  If that digit is “5” or more, the underline digit goes up 1  If that digit is “4” or less, the underline digit stays the same –Example: Round to the thousands –35,  The 7 tells us to round up and have the answer  Answer = 36,  Be sure to make all of the numbers to the right of the underlined digit ZEROS!
