FILMSTRIP PROJECTOR  A device used to view a filmstrip.  Recorded sounds are made to accompany the filmstrip.  Later on, as the filmstrip is being shown, players were built into the projector.  Now, filmstrip projectors are rarely found in classrooms.

SLIDE PROJECTOR  A device used to view photographic slides.  Term slide, refers to a small format photographic transparency individually for one-at-a time projection.  Size of the slides is 2x2 inch.  Price is quite high.  Rarely found in the classroom.

OVERHEAD PROJECTOR  A box with a large “stage” on the top surface.  A lamp from inside the box is condensed by a special type of lens passes through the transparency that is placed on the “stage”.

 Term transparency, composed of photographic film, clear acetate, or any transparent material capable of being imprinted with an image by means of chemical, heat process or direct drawing method.

Preparing Transparencies  Print horizontally on the transparency.  Use a large text size.  Use standard fonts.  Color of the text should be black. Use red sparingly.  Do not overload your transparency. (66 rules)  Use topical outlines and NOT sentences.

 Do not reproduce a typewritten page or a page from a book.  Write notes on the frame of your transparency.  Vary your presentation with the use of overlays, masking, silhouettes and cut- outs. BACK
