DECA Marketing Club

What is DECA? An international association of high school and college students More than 180,000 high school students are members of High School DECA with over 5,000 chapters operating in the United States, Canada, Germany and Puerto Rico. Studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and service.

Membership Runs from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010 Dues include the following –State membership: $9.00 –DECA Inc. dues: $8.00 –TRHS dues: $8.00 –Total: $25.00

Iowa Fall Leadership Conference When: October 4 & 5, 2009 –Begins Sunday at 4:00 p.m. –Ends Monday at 1:00 p.m. Where: Des Moines Embassy Suites Cost: $70 –Pays for the registration fee and hotel –DECA t-shirt paid for by the local chapter

Regulations Follow the DECA Code of Ethics Dress in business attire –Men: business suit or slacks with a collared shirt –Women: business suit or dress, slacks or skirt with coordinated blouse or sweater Attend all sessions Be prompt and prepared Not leave the conference without advisor’s permission No smoking, alcoholic beverages or narcotics of any form No profane or abusive language Not break the designated curfew

District Conference When: January 20 or 27, 2010 Where: Merle Hay Mall What: Competitions and Testing – Why: Practice for State Conference Cost: $10

State Conference When: February 28-March 1, 2010 (Sunday and Monday) Where: Des Moines Embassy Suites What: Competitions and Testing Why: Determine who will advance to the National Conference Cost: Approximately $70

National Conference When: April 24-27, 2010 (Saturday thru Tuesday) Where: Louisville, Kentucky What: Competitions and Testing Why: National recognition and awards Cost: Approximately $600

My Responsibilities Pay DECA dues and any other fees for conferences--due by Friday, September 11. Attend weekly meetings on Thursday afternoons from 2:45-3:15 in Room 2260 beginning on September 3. Participate in fundraising activities
