Program Review: The Sequel Institutional Briefing on the Process and Outcomes of the Process

Program Review and Resource Allocation Deans and faculty will work together to determine top 1 or 2 goals from program review Goals will be communicated to the Vice President Vice President and Deans will work together to fund as many of the number one or two goals as possible

Goal Criteria Goals that can be funded without additional process include those that require no institutional process for review Ex: faculty and classified hire have an institutional process and cannot be automatically funded through other means

How Will Resources be Allocated? Deans and Vice President will review existing monies within Academic Services to determine if that can used to complete goals Deans and Vice President will determine the annual sources of funding (institutional) that may be applicable to the goal

Funding continued Deans and Vice President will look at large goals and try to plan for incremental completion Deans and Vice President will work with Student Services on joint goals that may be allocated funding on a collaborative basis Deans and Vice President will look at categorical funding opportunities that may be appropriate to goal completion

Example of Program Review Goal and Allocation Model Mass Communications: Upgrades to technology and media resources (goal) Mass Communications department would provide a spreadsheet on upgrades and replacements that need to occur this year and possibly reviewed in subsequent years

Mass Comm. continued Dean and Vice President would review for: Total cost for one year replacement or renewal Where instructional equipment may be applied Where equipment that impedes instruction must be replaced (general fund) Where equipment may be replaced incrementally on an annual basis and what money would be needed Media purchases possible through general fund, technology and/or VTEA

Mass Comm. continued Funding applied for equipment renewal Next Steps: Program Review goal completion documented along with effectiveness of completed goal to program

Next Steps to Process Implications Task Force will recommend to Academic Senate a process (collegial review themes) that may be discussed next year for possible improvement or streamlining

Conclusion Program Review Task Force Initiatives College Themes Process Initiative Program Review Goals and Budget Allocation Effectiveness of Goal Completion Response (Master Plan)
